General Data Protection Policy
Birkmyre Property Consultancy (BPC) is an estate agency based in Marlborough. We are committed to delivering a professional service to our clients in the acquisition, disposal and valuation of residential and commercial property.
The General Data Protection Regulation Policy came into force on 25 May 2018, superseding the Data Protection Act 1998. BPC has now updated their Privacy Policy to ensure compliance with the new legislation.
BPC PRIVACY POLICY
This policy explains when and why we collect personal information about people, how we use it, the conditions under which we may disclose it to others and how we keep it secure.

How do BPC collect information from you?
We collect information on three individual databases through applications made to us by email, telephone and verbally. The information collected is personal and therefore sensitive. It includes names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and property details. The property information itself is highly sensitive including addresses, values, prices paid/received/sought and potential sale/acquisition situations, which are usually of a personal nature.
We do not collect information about children aged 16 years or under.
Security precautions
We are aware that the information that we hold about you is sensitive and we take stringent measures to ensure that it is treated securely. Security precautions are in place to protect the loss, misuse or alteration of your information.
All information collected is inputted into a database which is password protected. Only employees of BPC are provided with the password. In the event that an employee leaves BPC the password is changed.
Our files for sales, lettings and valuations are held within 2 locked filing cabinets. The cabinets are locked when they are not being accessed.
How may this information be used?
BPC will not share your name, phone number or email address with anyone without your permission. With your express agreement BPC sometimes share your telephone number and/or email address with people to assist in the organisation of viewings, inform you/them of any delays or changes in times.
In the course of our day to day business of valuing property we do sometimes share details regarding the address and price paid/received or valued with other property professionals. This is important given the nature of valuing property in the market. If you do not wish to share this information, please email us.
We review our retention periods for personal information on a regular basis. We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as is necessary for the relevant activity.
Who has access to your information?
Only employees of BPC have direct access to your information.
We will not sell or rent your information to third parties.
We will not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
We will not transfer your information to any other countries.
We do not have links to other websites.
How you can access and update your information?
In reviewing our Privacy Policy you will have been contacted by BPC and been asked if you wish us to hold your information on our database, and given the opportunity to update your information. The accuracy of your information is important to us.
